Even though the Denver Broncos added RJ Harvey in the NFL Draft, the team is set to meet with veteran running back J.K. Dobbins on Wednesday evening, where the former Los Angeles Chargers starter could end up signing with them.

Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton likes his young group of running backs on the current roster, but he also isn’t shying away from adding a veteran into the mix.

Payton and Broncos brass are expected to meet with former Los Angeles Chargers starting running back J.K. Dobbins on Wednesday evening, where he’s expected to have dinner with Payton, general manager George Paton, and other staff members.
This was first reported on Wednesday afternoon by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
He’s then expected to tour the team facility on Thursday, where media are going to be in attendance for the only open practice of Week 2 of OTAs.
Dobbins has dealt with injuries over the course of his career, but when healthy, he’s an explosive running back who has traits that can also impact the offense out of the backfield as a pass catcher.
He played against the Broncos in one of the Chargers’ two games last season. In Week 6, Dobbins rushed for 96 yards and one touchdown on 25 attempts and was a problem for Denver in the first half.
Dobbins played in 13 games for the Chargers last season and missed four games due to a short-term IR stint. He finished 2024 with 905 rushing yards, nine touchdowns, and averaged 4.6 yards per carry for Jim Harbaugh’s offense.
Now he’ll have a chance to land with the Broncos as the team prepares for mandatory minicamp next week, and if he signs, he’ll join Harvey, Audric Estime, Blake Watson, Jaleel McLaughlin, and Tyler Badie in that position room.
If Dobbins does, in fact, sign and the Broncos’ interest in him is mutual, Denver will have to make a corresponding roster move in order to make space for him.
