Ivey Ranch Park Association in Oceanside is rolling into summer with a full schedule and an open invitation for the community to get involved.
Known for its work with people of all abilities through Equine-Assisted Services and educational programs, the nonprofit is offering summer camps, internships, and volunteer opportunities — all with the goal of keeping its services running strong.
“We’re incredibly excited about everything happening at Ivey Ranch this summer,” said Tonya Danielly, executive director of Ivey Ranch. “From educational workshops to our lively outdoor concerts, every event is designed not just to engage the community, but also to fuel our mission. We currently have a long waiting list of individuals eager to benefit from our programs, but to reach them, we need volunteers, interns, and continued donor support.”
Here’s what’s happening:
Summer Camps (Starting June 30)
Camps run through August and are open to kids ages 7 to 17. Each week offers hands-on learning in horseback riding, vaulting, horse care, and barn basics like anatomy and nutrition. Adult riding sessions will be available later in the summer. Space is limited to 18 campers per session.
Internships
Teens 14 and older, along with adults, can apply for summer internships. Interns help with daily camp activities, grooming, tacking, feeding, and horse handling. Everyone gets trained before starting, and roles rotate depending on the day. A required training for interns will be held on June 25.
Summer Concert Fundraiser
Ivey Ranch will once again staff the Beer Garden Tent at the North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre in Chula Vista, now through October. Volunteers are needed to help during concerts featuring artists like Willie Nelson, Billy Idol, Incubus, Big Time Rush, and Little Big Town. Proceeds go toward feeding the therapy horses — the goal is to raise $45,000, which would cover about six months of their care.
If you want to learn something new, pitch in behind the scenes, or spend a few summer nights at live shows for a good cause, there are plenty of ways to help out.
