Hurricanes extend East Final with Game 4 win vs. Panthers

It only took 19 years, but the Carolina Hurricanes have finally won a Conference Final game again.

The Hurricanes forced a Game 5 with a 3-0 win against the Florida Panthers on Monday night.

Logan Stankoven, the central piece of the deadline-day Mikko Rantanen, scored the game-winning goal with a blocker-side snipe on Sergei Bobrovsky off the rush. It was the rookie’s fifth goal and eighth point this post-season.

Sebastian Aho scored an empty-net goal with just over two minutes remaining to seal the win for the Hurricanes.

With the Panthers still pushing with the net empty, Eric Staal scored his first goal of the series and his second of the post-season.

Mark Jankowski thought he doubled the lead for the Hurricanes earlier in the third period just after killing a penalty, but the Panthers successfully challenged for offside, and it was overturned.

Game 5 shifts back to Carolina, who will face elimination once more.
