(KRON) -- It was a very lucky day for one man who purchased a lottery ticket recently at a Concord liquor store. According to the California State Lottery, Steven Muhlestein bought the $10 million ticket.
"'Twas a truly fortunate day also for Steven Muhlestein, who uncorked a $10 million prize with a $10 Million Super Bonus Scratchers game procured from the Vintage Wine Shoppe & Liquor on the corner of Clayton Road and Roslyn Drive in Concord," the lottery said in a press release Friday.
Muhlestein wasn't the only recent Northern California lottery winner, nor the biggest. In Sacramento, one lottery player got a belated holiday surprise. Ashley Eugene received a $20 Maximum Millions Scratchers game from her father as a Christmas gift.
She waited about a week and a half to scratch it, scratched the ticket and stared at in disbelief.
"I kept looking at it and making sure it was correct," she said. "My dad happened to be there with me, so he looked at it and made sure it was correct. Then, a couple days later, we took it to the store, and they checked it and verified it was a winner."
The lucky ticket, which was sold at A1 Mart at 2550 W. El Camino Avenue in Sacramento, turned out to be worth $5 million.
