2-alarm house fire fully involved near Freedom Park after possible explosion

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- Crews worked to contain a 2-alarm fire at a south Charlotte home, according to the Charlotte Fire Department.

Around 6:16 a.m. on Friday, authorities said they were called to a fully involved house fire on Lombardy Circle. Around 6:35 a.m., a second alarm was called, bringing more crews to help.

Sixty firefighters controlled the blaze in about an hour. The fire is still under investigation.

The Mecklenburg EMS Agency says they were called for reports of burns and a possible explosion. However, officials are still working to find out what exactly led up to the fire.

Officials say one person in a nearby building was evaluated by medical personnel.
