Eaton 13, La Junta 1, 5 inn., in Eaton: Eaton opened its campaign in the Northern Colorado Baseball Tournament — which it co-hosted with University — with a lopsided victory. Sophomore Brayden Legler had three RBI, two runs and a triple on 1-for-3 hitting for the Reds. Senior Cash Rinker went 2 for 4 with two RBI. Rinker also pitched all five innings for Eaton, allowing one unearned run on three hits, striking out eight and walking none. The Reds improved to 6-2 overall.

Already leading 3-0, the Bulldogs slammed the door with 10 runs in the bottom of the fourth. They out-hit North Fork 10-2. Freshman Brody Duran led the way, hitting 1 for 3 with three RBI and two runs. Sophomore Max Davis went 3 for 3 with two RBI and a double. Freshman Aiden Solano pitched all five innings, allowing no runs on two hits, striking out eight and walking four. University improved to 6-2 overall.
Valley goes 2-0, in Gilcrest: Valley opened its home tournament, which it co-hosted with Platte Valley, with a 16-1 win against Middle Park and a 5-1 victory against Wiggins. The Vikings scored 11 runs in the bottom of the second inning against Middle Park. They out-hit the Panthers 15-2. Seniors Andrew Renken and Carson Adolf had three RBI apiece. Renken hit 4 for 4 with three runs, two triples and a double. Junior Seth Kissler pitched all four innings, allowing one unearned run on two hits, striking out five and walking two. Renken and junior Caleb Dudley each had a RBI against Wiggins. Renken hit 2 for 3 with a double and two runs. Adolf pitched all six innings, allowing one unearned run on five hits, striking out five and walking one. Valley improved to 5-4 overall.
Platte Valley wins two, in Kersey: Platte Valley continued to rack up wins, defeating Olathe 10-0 and Jefferson Academy 9-5 to open its home tournament, which it co-hosted with Valley. The Broncos out-hit Olathe 10-0. Junior Hazen Weber pitched five no-hit innings, striking out 14 and walking three. Freshman Cooper Moffatt led Platte Valley’s offense, hitting 3 for 3 with four RBI and a double. Weber and senior Nick Silvas had two RBI apiece against Jefferson Academy. The Broncos improved to 7- 2 overall.
Highland wins one, ties one, in Gilcrest: Highland tied Jefferson Academy 6-6 before defeating Olathe 15-0 during the first day of Valley’s/Platte Valley’s home tournament. Senior Sawyer Morgan hit 1 for 4 with a double, a run and two RBI against Jefferson Academy. The Huskies out-hit Olathe 20-0. Freshman pitcher Lucas Kopetzky struck out three and walked one during his four-inning no-hitter. Junior Stetson Hendren hit 2 for 4 with four RBI, a double and a home run. Highland improved to 3-3-1.
Fort Lupton drops two, in Gilcrest: Fort Lupton dropped a game to Wiggins, 14-3, and another to Middle Park, 8-7, during the first day of Valley’s/Platte Valley’s home tournament. Junior Andrew Dreiling recorded the Bluedevils’ only RBI against Wiggins. Senior Ivan Mota and Ilian Tovar each had two RBI against Middle Park. Fort Lupton led 6-1 in that game before faltering in the final innings. The Bluedevils dropped to 3-4 on the season.
Boys lacrosse
Resurrection Christian 9, Juan Diego Catholic (Draper, Utah) 1, in Loveland: Resurrection Christian scored in every quarter to stay several steps ahead of this out-of-state foe. Senior Zander Adfield had five of the Cougars’ nine goals. Resurrection Christian improved to 5-2 overall.
Girls soccer
Englewood 10, Fort Lupton 0, in Fort Lupton: Fort Lupton had no answers for Englewood’s offense in this nonleague loss. The Pirates had seven goals in the first half and three more in the second. Fort Lupton fell to 1-6 overall, 1-3 in 3A/2A Frontier League play.
Girls tennis
Greeley West hosts invitational, in Greeley: Greeley West played host to its 12th annual home invitational, which took place at Centennial Courts, Greeley West and Greeley Central. With 16 total programs, this is the largest tournament in the state run by a high school. The host Spartans tied with Grand Junction for second place with 35 points. Mullen claimed top team honors with 37 points. Greeley Central was seventh within the seven-squad team standings, scoring zero team points. Among the local highlights, Greeley West junior Danae Rowe placed first at No. 2 singles, defeating Mullen senior Claire Lenich 8-3 in the finals. Spartans senior Piper Clancy was the runner-up at No. 1 singles. West seniors Isabella Clark and Cherly Rodriguez won their bracket over their Greeley Central counterparts at No. 3 doubles. Spartans sophomores Hayden Atchley and Sophie Herold were the runners-up at No. 1 doubles. West sophomores Harlow Cropper and Chloe Thompson were the runners-up at No. 4 doubles.
Boys volleyball
Severance 3, Eagle Ridge Academy, in Brighton: Severance remained red hot, winning its fourth consecutive match with this 25-19, 23-25, 25-15, 25-7 conference victory. The Silver Knights improved to 8-6 overall, 5-0 in 4A Northern Conference play.
Mountain View 3, Greeley Central 1, in Greeley: Greeley Central won the first set but couldn’t maintain the momentum, falling 18-25, 25-16, 25-14, 25-18. Sophomore DeAngelo Velarde had seven kills, an ace, a block and seven digs. The Wildcats lost their fifth consecutive match and fell to 2-8 overall.

Baseball
Valley 7, Platte Valley 3, in Gilcrest: Valley got the better of Platte Valley in a tournament the two programs co-hosted. Valley led for much of the game before the Broncos scored two runs in the top of the sixth to briefly tie the game at 3. The Vikings again created separation with four runs in the bottom of the sixth. Junior Seth Kissler led Valley, hitting 1 for 4 with three RBI. His senior teammates Anthony Soliz and Andrew Renken each had two hits, as did junior Alfonso Medina. Soliz pitched all seven innings for the Vikings, allowing two earned runs on five hits, striking out six and walking one. Junior Hazen Weber had all three of Platte Valley’s RBI, hitting 2 for 3 with a double. Valley improved to 6-4 overall. Platte Valley fell to 7-3.
University goes 2-0, in Greeley: University completed a 3-0 campaign in the Northern Colorado Baseball Tournament — which it co-hosted with Eaton — by defeating Bennett 6-2 and topping The Classical Academy 6-5. The Bulldogs scored the walk-off, game-winning run against TCA in the bottom of the seventh inning. University extended its win streak to eight games and improved to 8-2 overall.
Windsor 9, Fort Collins 5, in Windsor: Windsor used a huge second inning to snap a two-game losing streak and split a two-game series against Fort Collins. The Lambkins jumped out to a 4-1 first-inning lead before the Wizards came storming back with seven runs in the bottom of the second. Windsor out-hit Fort Collins 9-5 and had no errors, compared to three for the Lambkins. Senior Mason Jordan led the Wizards, hitting 1 for 4 with four RBI and a home run. Fellow senior Eastin Hubbard went 3 for 3 with two RBI and a double. Windsor senior Ethan Fillinger was solid on the mound, allowing one unearned run on two hits, striking out 10 and walking three in 6 2/3 innings. The Wizards improved to 7-3 overall, 1-1 in 5A/4A Northern Conference play.

Highland 12, Middle Park 3, in Gilcrest: Highland closed its campaign in Valley’s/Platte Valley’s home tournament emphatically. Junior Stetson Hendren continued to swing a hot bat, hitting 4 for 4 with four RBI, two runs, two doubles and a triple. The sophomore pitching duo of Tracy Van Gilder II and Ely Phillips combined to allow three unearned runs on three hits, striking out four and walking four. The Huskies improved to 4-3-1.
Mountain View 4, Greeley Central 1, in Loveland: Greeley Central couldn’t produce enough offense to snap a four-game losing streak, dropping to 1-9 overall, 0-5 in 4A/3A Longs Peak play. Sophomore Lupe Loma-Arteaga led the Wildcats, hitting 1 for 3 with a RBI. Central senior Anthony Partida was solid on the mound, allowing one earned run on four hits, striking out four and walking none.
Poudre 8, Greeley West 1, in Fort Collins: Greeley West couldn’t keep pace with Poudre’s consistent offense, tying the game at 1 in the second inning before the Impalas scored seven unanswered runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Poudre out-hit the Spartans 10-1. Sophomore Camdon Duplex had West’s only hit. The Spartans fell to 4-8 overall, 0-4 in 5A/4A Northern Conference play.
Berthoud 4, Northridge 2, in Berthoud: Northridge’s struggles in close games continued, as the Grizzlies remained winless on the season, falling to 0-10 overall, 0-5 in 4A/3A Longs Peak play. The Spartans led 4-0 through four innings before Northridge scored two runs in the top of the sixth. Berthoud out-hit the Grizzlies 6-4.
Olathe 13, Fort Lupton 3, in Gilcrest: Fort Lupton couldn’t slow Olathe’s offense in the Bluedevils’ last game in Valley’s/Platte Valley’s home tournament. Olathe took a big lead early leading 9-1 after two innings. Senior Javier Ortiz and Josiah Gonzales each had a RBI for Fort Lupton. The Bluedevils fell to 3-5 overall.
Boys lacrosse
Windsor 5, Ponderosa 4, 2OT, in Parker: Windsor survived this marathon of a nonconference match to claim its second consecutive tight victory and improve to 4-3 overall. The Wizards scored one goal in each of the four regulation quarters before producing the game-winner in the second overtime. Senior Hayden Williamson had four of Windsor’s five goals. Freshman Oliver Halligan had two assists.
Girls soccer
Windsor Charter 7, Wellington 0, in Windsor: Windsor Charter was razor sharp in this nonleague victory. The Firebirds scored two goals in the first half and five more in the second. Senior Dillan Brown had three goals and one assist. Sophomore Gwendolyn Dow added two goals and an assist. Windsor Charter improved to 3-0-1.
Palmer Ridge 6, Northridge 1, in Greeley: Palmer Ridge scored three goals in each half, and Northridge couldn’t keep pace. The Grizzlies fell to 2-3-2 overall with the nonleague loss.
Boys swimming and diving
West places second, in Loveland: Greeley West scored 316 points to finish second behind Monarch (591) in the Mountain Lion Invitational, hosted by Mountain View. Windsor was fourth (310) out of seven teams. The Spartans placed first in a trio of events. Ian Spooner was first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:49.13) and 500 freestyle (5:06.21). His Greeley West teammate, Alexander Calhoun, was first in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.90).
Track and field
Eaton hosts meet, in Eaton: Eaton welcomed nine other programs, many of them local, to its home stadium for the annual Fightin’ Reds Invitational. The host Reds won the boys (145 points) and girls (194.5) team titles. Dayspring Christian was second (103) in the boys standings and third (98) in the girls standings. Valley’s boys were eighth (41), and its girls were fifth (42).

Her Reds teammate Siri Rasmussen won the girls 100 hurdles (17.58) and the 300 hurdles (50.77). Eaton won the girls 3,200 relay (10:44.79). The Reds won the boys 800 relay (1:33.96). Eaton’s Olivya South won girls high jump (4′ 10″). Reds pole vaulter Ryan Martinez recorded a first-place finish (14′). He also won triple jump (41′ 7.25″). Eaton’s Kaylee Staudinger won girls triple jump (33′ 4.25″). Reds thrower Isabella Ramsey won girls shot put (34′) and discus (112′ 6″).
Dayspring Christian’s Cooper Osmus won the boys 3,200 (10:28.95). The Eagles won the boys 3,200 relay (9:08.40). Dayspring’s Lexa Jackson was first in the girls 400 (1:05.08). Her Eagles teammate Owen Crust won the boys 400 (54.78). Dayspring’s Elijah Martin won the boys 300 hurdles (43.03). The Eagles won the boys 1,600 relay (3:44.27).
Local teams compete, in Fort Collins: A handful of local programs — Windsor, Resurrection Christian and Resurrection Christian — sent squads to the 27-team Altitude Running Invitational, hosted by Fort Collins High School at French Field. Windsor was third (88) in the girls standings and 14th (22.5) in the boys standings. Resurrection Christian’s boys were eighth (28), while its girls tied for 22nd (1). Severance tied for 12th (24.5) in the boys standings and was 20th (5) in the girls standings.
Timnath narrowly won the girls team title (93), while Fort Collins claimed the boys title (105).
Windsor junior Kiana Cumings was first in the girls 100 (12.24) and the 200 (24.00). Her junior teammate, Maya Brasch, placed second (24.83) in the girls 200. The Wizards team of Brasch, Cumings, senior Lindsey Hinson and senior Leena Ortiz won the girls 400 relay with a meet record (47.42). Windsor’s quartet of senior Reyleigh Hess, senior Madelyn Von Tersch, Cumings and Hinson won the girls 1,600 relay (3:56.02).

Briggsdale, West compete, in Wiggins: Briggsdale and Greeley West were among the 10 teams in attendance during the Wiggins Invitational. Greeley West’s girls (91) and boys (90) placed third. Briggsdale was eighth (18) in the boys standings and 10th (1) in the girls standings. Wiggins won the girls meet with 149.5 points, while Strasburg (248) placed first in the boys team standings.
Greeley West freshman Jax Lamb was first in the boys 100 (11.54). Spartans senior Kaitlyn Fenton won the girls 300 hurdles (52.27). West sophomore Isabella Allen placed first in the girls 200 (27.40).
Boys volleyball
Windsor Charter 3, Forge Christian 2, in Windsor: Windsor Charter survived this league nail-biter to improve to 4-6 overall, 1-5 in 4A Northern Conference play. The Firebirds prevailed 25-19, 25-19, 22-25, 21-25, 16-14. Junior Brady Johnson led the way with 16 kills, five aces, three blocks and five digs.

Dayspring Christian 6, Highland 5, in Ault: Dayspring Christian edged Highland in this high-scoring affair to extend its win streak to six games. The Eagles jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first before the Huskies came storming back with two runs in the second and three more in the fifth. Dayspring erased a 5-4 deficit for good with two runs in the top of the fourth. Eagles seniors Gage Davis and Logan Vaniddekinge each had two RBI and a double. Highland junior Stetson Hendren and freshman Byron Berkheimer each had a double, a run and a RBI. Dayspring’s senior pitching duo of Davis and Josiah Rodriguez combined to allow one earned run on four hits, striking out 10 and walking four. The Huskies pitching duo of Hendren and senior John Bingley was solid, as well, allowing one earned run on six hits, striking out 13 and walking two. The Eagles improved to 7-1 overall. Highland fell to 4-4-1.
Roosevelt 15, Wellington 4, 5 inn., in Johnstown: Roosevelt kept rolling, winning its fifth consecutive game and improving to 7-1 overall, 5-0 in 4A/3A Longs Peak play. Briefly falling behind 3-0 in the top of the first inning, the Rough Riders wasted no time taking control, scoring six runs in the bottom of the first. Junior Israel Castillo led Roosevelt’s offense, hitting 4 for 4 with five RBI, a double, a triple and a run. Castillo was also solid on the mound, allowing three earned runs on seven hits, striking out six and walking three.
Severance 8, Timnath 7, in Timnath: Severance secured this league nail-biter to win its seventh consecutive game and improve to 8-4 overall, 4-1 in 4A/3A Longs Peak play. The Silver Knights jumped out to an 8-3 lead through five innings and fended off a late Timnath rally attempt. Kolton Beidleman hit 2 for 3 with three RBI and a triple for Severance.
Fort Lupton 17, Jefferson 13, in Edgewater: Fort Lupton prevailed in this high-scoring affair to snap a five-game losing streak and improve to 4-5 overall, 2-1 in 3A/2A Frontier League play. The Bluedevils out-hit Jefferson 12-5. Fort Lupton led 10-5 early before the Saints scored eight runs in the bottom of the third to take a sudden 13-10 lead. Bluedevils responded with two runs in the fourth, three in the sixth and two more in the seventh. Fort Lupton senior Javier Ortiz and junior Andrew Dreiling had three hits and four RBI apiece. Ortiz had two doubles and a triple.
Mountain View 19, Greeley Central 0, 4 inn., in Greeley: Greeley Central struggled mightily in this conference affair. Mountain View out-hit the Wildcats 14-5 and had no errors, compared to five for Greeley Central. Wildcats freshman Angel Lopez-Meza hit 1 for 2 with a double. Greeley Central fell to 1-10 overall, 0-6 in 4A/3A Longs Peak play. The Wildcats have lost six consecutive games.
Berthoud 19, Northridge 5, 5 inn., in Greeley: Northridge was again denied its first win of the season, falling to 0-11 overall, 0-6 in 4A/3A Longs Peak play. Berthoud quickly took complete control, going up 12-0 after one inning. Four Grizzlies players each drove in one run.
Caliche 19, Briggsdale 1, 5 inn., in Briggsdale: Briggsdale couldn’t get timely outs in this league loss, falling to 1-3 overall, 0-1 in 1A District 5 play. Caliche out-hit the Falcons 8-1 and had no errors, compared to six for Briggsdale. Senior Taryan Radke had the Falcons’ only hit, a triple. Fellow senior Tavis Radke drove in Briggsdale’s only run.
Girls golf
Northridge places second, in Firestone: Northridge carded a 48-over-par, four-golfer score of 264 to finish second, behind Riverdale Ridge (249), during the 15-team Red Wolves Invitational, hosted by Loveland at Saddleback Golf Club. Windsor finished one stroke behind the Grizzlies, shooting a 265 to place third. Severance was fourth at 275. Roosevelt was 12th (380).
Junior Grace Gerbers paced Northridge, shooting a 12-over-par 84 and placing fourth overall. She was well-complemented on the team by junior Jade Hepler (88, 8th), senior Leila Thompson (92, 13th) and junior Madison Nation (103, 26th).
Windsor senior Macy Kleve (82) was second on the individual leaderboard behind Riverdale Ridge junior Brynn Balliet. Sophomore McKenna Hersh (88, 8th) also represented the Wizards, as did junior Ruth Stephens (95, 18th) and junior Karis Reichardt (96, 21st).
Senior Sophie Morgan (86, 6th) led Severance and was joined by senior Katelyn Johnson (93, 14th), senior Reagan Mendoza (96, 21st) and sophomore Jaycee Runner (100, 25th).
Freshman Hailey Thompson (125, 49th), freshman Aza Sokoll (126, 50th), sophomore Kenady Lebsack (129, 54th) and freshman Bailey Botterill (134, 57th) suited up for Roosevelt.
Resurrection Christian finishes fourth, in Niwot: Resurrection Christian shot a four-golfer score of 374 (94-over-par) to place fourth out of 23 teams during the Erie Cocoa Classic at Lake Valley Golf Club. Fossil Ridge placed first, shooting a 321.
Junior Avery Stockslager led Resurrection Christian, shooting a 10-over-par 80 to place seventh, individually. She was joined on the team by junior Karina Garcia (85, 13th), senior Brooke May (86, 16th), freshman Courtney Foxworth (123, 83rd) and freshman Gracelyn Burnett (129, 89th).
Lutheran senior Tess Morris placed first overall, shooting a 5-over-par 75.
Girls soccer
Peak to Peak 8, Valley 0, in Lafayette: Valley struggled in all facets of this nonleague match. Peak to Peak scored two goals in the first half and eight more in the second. The Vikings saw their three-match win streak come to an end, as they fell to 3-4 overall.
Bennett 2, Weld Central 1, in Bennett: Weld Central fell inches short of snapping a four-game losing streak. All three goals came in the second half. The Rebels fell to 2-6 overall.
Girls tennis
Windsor 5, Severance 2, in Windsor: Windsor controlled this dual against its district-mate, winning all four doubles matches and one of three singles matches. Among the wins, Wizards junior Emma George defeated junior Myla Moore 6-3, 6-3. Severance sophomore Joanna Carter defeated sophomore Sally Dreyer 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, while Silver Knights freshman Josephine Carter topped senior Delaney Kintz 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. Windsor improved to 1-3 overall. Severance fell to 3-2.
Track and field
Roosevelt competes in Bash, in Broomfield: Roosevelt was one of nine schools that competed in the B-Town Bash, hosted by Broomfield. The Rough Riders girls (2,478 points) and boys (2,659) each placed fifth. Longmont won the girls team title (3,198.5), while Eaglecrest claimed the boys title (3,943). Roosevelt senior Taegan Olson won girls pole vault (11′ 9″) and placed third in the girls 100-meter hurdles (16.86 seconds).
Rough Riders senior Jayden Nohr was first in boys long jump (22′ 10.75″). Roosevelt sophomore Kylie Baca was third in the girls 100 (12.91). Rough Riders junior Braelyn Bailey placed third in girls triple jump (36 0.5″). Her junior teammate, Haiden Chambers, was second in girls discus (100′ 7″) behind Longmont senior Ella Augustaitus (112′ 6″). Roosevelt juniors Joseph Wooldridge and Noah Dunn placed first (50′ 1.5″) and second (46′ 1.75″), respectively, in boys shot put.
Roosevelt was third in the girls 400 relay (43.14). Rough Riders sophomore Owen Hays was third in the boys 400 (50.96). Roosevelt sophomore Kylie Baca was third in the girls 200 (27.09). Rough Riders teammates, senior Kiana Castillo and sophomore Mady McCann, tied for second in girls high jump (4′ 10″). Two other Roosevelt teammates, sophomores Janaya Johnson and Bailey Kielian, were second (16′ 1.75″) and third (15′ 10.25″), respectively, in girls long jump behind Eaglecrest junior Alyssa Madrigal (16′ 2.75″).
