Star Indian middle-order batter and T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav reached a significant milestone on Friday, April 4, by becoming the eighth player to feature in 100 IPL matches for the Mumbai Indians. The 34-year-old from Mumbai, celebrated as one of the greatest T20 batters of all time, achieved this feat during the IPL 2025 match against the Lucknow Super Giants at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
Suryakumar Yadav’s IPL journey
Surya’s IPL journey began on April 6, 2012, when he made his debut for the Mumbai Indians in a match against Pune Warriors India at the Wankhede Stadium. In that game, he batted at the No. 6 position under the captaincy of Harbhajan Singh but unfortunately was dismissed for a four-ball duck. Following this, he moved to the Kolkata Knight Riders, where he played for four seasons from 2014 to 2017, honing his skills and gaining valuable experience.
Suryakumar returned to the Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2018 mega auction, marking the start of a remarkable second stint with the five-time champions. Over the years, he has established himself as one of the team’s most dependable and dynamic players, contributing significantly to their success.
