Families, power, and the battle for it are at the heart of the new Guy Ritchie series MobLand, which has an all-star cast that is more than equal to the job.
Dame Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Tom Hardy and Joanne Froggatt lead the cast in the new Paramount+ series, which launched this week.
Written by Top Boy creator Ronan Bennett, it was originally intended as a spin-off to Ray Donovan but then reworked into a stand alone series.
Ritchie, famed for films Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch and Sherlock Holmes, directs some episodes and is an executive producer along with Jez Butterworth, Nina L Diaz, David C Glasser and Tom Hardy.
Speaking at the show’s London premiere, Ritchie told news agency Reuters: “I was interested in the traditional genre, so to speak, that it’s gangsters in one family.
“I haven’t done that before.”
