A driver struck and killed a woman early Sunday afternoon in Berkeley, the Berkeley Police Department said in a press release.
The crash occurred shortly before 1 p.m. at the intersection of Ada and California streets. Berkeley Fire Department responders found the woman trapped beneath the vehicle upon arrival.

It is unclear whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash. The department’s Fatal Accident Investigation Team is handling the case.
