Blow for RCB, India! Rajat Patidar’s injury threatens to end his IPL 2025: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have been jolted with two massive blows ahead of the resumption of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. As per the reports in the Indian Express, it is learned that Rajat Patidar might miss the tournament, and also Josh Hazlewood won't be returning to India.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Rajat Patidar injured his finger during the home fixture against Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2025. The batter is reportedly likely to take more time than expected to recover and also might miss out on the India A squad for the tour of England after the league.
There is no clarity on whether Patidar will play in the league, but he needs sufficient recovery time. The reports claimed that if IPL 2025 hadn't been suspended, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper would've missed at least the next two games for the franchise.
It is learned that Rajat Patidar has been asked to wear a splint to protect his finger. His injury will be assessed in a few days, but it is unlikely that he will play the first few games. The RCB management, however, is hopeful that he might play a part in the business end of the tournament, where he might play as an impact player.
Jitesh Sharma will be leading the Royal Challengers Bengaluru if Rajat Patidar gets ruled out
But, there's a big if in that, as all will depend on how he recovers. Currently, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper has been told not to bat in the practice sessions. If he gets ruled out, it will no doubt be a massive blow for the franchise, especially with them being at the top of the table.
The reports also added that if Patidar is ruled out of the tournament, then Jitesh Sharma will be leading the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The keeper-batter is a popular figure in the franchise and will be given the responsibility to take the team forward.
Josh Hazlewood is unlikely to return to India for the second phase of the IPL 2025
Not only Rajat Patidar, Royal Challengers Bengaluru are mulling over the availability of Josh Hazlewood. The premier pacer returned home after the IPL 2025 was suspended. But he was also nursing a shoulder injury and missed the game against the Chennai Super Kings.
Josh Hazlewood, whose career has been marred by a lot of injuries, played a massive role for the franchise this year. But with the ICC World Test Championship final slated to take place from 11th June, the reports claimed that the Australia National Cricket Team pacer is unlikely to return.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru have already lost the services of Devdutt Padikkal. The left-hander was ruled out of the tournament due to a hamstring injury. He was replaced by Mayank Agarwal, who will be serving his second stint with the franchise in the league.
