A lot is up in the air ahead of the Chicago Bulls’ meeting with the Golden State Warriors on Thursday night.
According to the latest official injury report, both Coby White and Ayo Dosunmu are questionable for the late-night matchup. White missed the Bulls’ previous meeting against the Clippers with ankle soreness, which led to the team having him examined by a foot doctor. Head coach Billy Donovan told K.C Johnson of Chicago Sports Network that no structural damage was found, but said he was unlikely to suit up against Golden State.
Ayo Dosunmu continues to work through a calf strain that forced him to miss ten games earlier this season. While it doesn’t appear as if things have flared back up significantly, the Bulls did hold him out of their meeting with Portland. Unlike White, however, Donovan told Johnson that Dosunmu is on track to play. I’d imagine this means he takes White’s spot in the starting lineup. Lonzo Ball filled the role last time around, but it’s easier for Donovan to monitor the veteran’s minutes with him on the bench.
Ayo Dosunmu didn’t practice but is doing individual work and on track to play vs. Warriors, per Donovan. Jevon Carter (illness) has rejoined team and practiced. Had stayed in Chicago for first two games of trip.
— K.C. Johnson (@KCJHoop) January 22, 2025The other side of the injury report is where things really get interesting. The Golden State Warriors were already set to enter tonight without Draymond Green and Jonathan Kuminga. Green, the elite defender and playmaker, will miss his fourth consecutive game with a calf strain. Young wing Jonathan Kuminga is dealing with an ankle sprain and hasn’t played since January 4. But that’s not all!
Kyle Anderson has been ruled out with a glute injury, while Trayce Jackson-Davis and Stephen Curry have been listed as questionable. Jackson-Davis has taken on a bigger and bigger role this season for the undersized Warriors. Missing him could be a major problem with Nikola Vucevic in town. As for Curry … well … I think we all know how much missing him would mean!
To add insult to many injuries, the Warriors are also playing on the backend of a back-to-back. They lost a tight one to the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night to drop to 20-21 on the season. If the Bulls can take advantage of a shorthanded team with tired legs, the Warriors will have lost five of their last seven.
Perfect time to trade for Nikola Vucevic!
