That $20 million a year decision was announced on Thursday.

It comes after the four-time MVP was let go by the New York Jets at the end of last season.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that “Rodgers informed the #Steelers he’ll fly to Pittsburgh on Friday and sign before next week’s minicamp.”

Pelissero added that “contract parameters have been in place “for months”.

But according to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, the time it had taken the Steelers to strike a deal had left some in the franchise’s camp sweating a bit.

She said: “After talking with people around the NFL and in Pittsburgh, it’s clear that while the Steelers were confident about signing Aaron Rodgers, they could finally exhale once the four-time MVP agreed to terms Thursday.”

Russini later added that both sides were now looking to move forward together before next weeks minicamp.

Rodgers has informed the Steelers he will be flying in to Pittsburgh on Friday to officially ink the deal.

And his timing could not be better as the team transition into their full contact minicamp next week.

The Steelers are currently taking part in OTAs, which end on Thursday, and will begin mandatory minicamp on Tuesday, June 10.

Rodgers had contemplated his future for the past few months, as he even considered retirement as he dealt with “personal issues.”

And the Hall of Fame-bound quarterback told last month how he only wanted $10 million a year to join them.

But somewhere along the line that figure doubled.

Regardless, It is a major deal for the AFC North team, who have been desperate to sign a new QB.

Pittsburgh let their 2024 starting quarterbacks, Justin Fields and Russell Wilson, walk in free agency.

Their full training camp is pencilled in to start on July 23.

And it will be the 58th year that Saint Vincent College will be the Steelers summer home.

The first practice session open to the public will be held on Thursday, July 24.

That will be followed by the first padded practice session scheduled for July 29.

Their final open practice will be on August 13, with their first regular season NFL against Rodgers old team, the Jets, pencilled in for September 7.
