Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have reacted to the Bengaluru Police’s accusation of a tragic stampede during their IPL 2025 victory celebration on June 4. The Bengaluru Police have officially filed an FIR against RCB, its event partner DNA Entertainment, and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) after a massive stampede outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium claimed 11 lives and left several injured.
As reported by ESPNcricinfo, the FIR reveals that Bengaluru Police had denied RCB permission for the victory event at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. According to the complaint lodged by Inspector Girish AK from the Cubbon Park Division, authorities had informed RCB, KCA, and DNA Entertainment that managing another huge crowd just hours after the IPL 2025 final night celebrations would be nearly impossible.
But despite being warned, they went ahead, and it ended in a deadly stampede. The FIR said that the police were on duty till 5:30 am on June 4, controlling thousands of fans who had gathered overnight to celebrate RCB’s maiden title win. Just hours later, chaos erupted again as RCB, KSCA, and DNA ignored the police’s warning and hosted the event anyway.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru has been named the first accused in this high-profile case, while DNA Entertainment and Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) have also been named in the case for their role in one of the darkest moments in IPL history.

The FIR mentioned six sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita: 105 (punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 115 (voluntarily causing harm), 118 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous means/weapons), 132 (assault or criminal drone to deter public servant from discharge of their duty), 125 (act endangering life or personal safety of others), and 190 (unlawful assembly).
Bengaluru police claimed in the FIR, “Permission for the event at the stadium was denied. Despite this, KSCA, RCB, and DNA went ahead with their plans and ignored the police's instructions. Without any official permission, on June 4, RCB announced their celebration and victory parade on their social media and website, inviting fans to join”.
RCB's viral post sparks deadly stampede at M Chinnaswamy Stadium
The news went viral instantly, spreading like wildfire across television channels and social platforms. Police were shocked hearing the news, and they had to react instantly, rushing to inform senior officers and pull in forces from across the city to make arrangements.
The police said that the RCB players arrived at Vidhana Soudha for a felicitation ceremony that went off smoothly, even with thousands of fans around. But disaster struck later that afternoon. By 3:10 PM, gates to M. Chinnaswamy Stadium were opened, and chaos erupted. Lakhs of fans had gathered outside the stadium, which has a capacity of around 35,000 people.
The FIR reads that there was no crowd management plan, no entry system, and no coordination, resulting in a deadly stampede unfolding. They said that helpless police and security officers struggled to pull injured people from the sea of bodies outside the stadium.

The Bengaluru police officially noted that 11 innocent people lost their lives and at least 64 people were injured, including police personnel, and even public property was damaged in the chaos. Surprisingly, the police claim that RCB’s social media fueled the crisis by posting about free entry passes being available at the stadium gates.
Despite the tragedy, the event inside went on as scheduled at 5:45 PM, even as emergency teams battled to treat the injured fans outside. Police entirely blamed RCB, KSCA, and DNA for the incident, as they completely ignored official warnings and failed to take basic steps to ensure safety.
The FIR further reads, “KSCA, RCB, and DNA went ahead with the celebration without police permission and failed to plan how to control the crowd or take safety precautions. The situation worsened because RCB's social media accounts posted about free entry passes at the stadium gates. Royal Challengers Bengaluru did not inform the police or public about how passes would be distributed. This caused confusion among the lakhs of fans waiting outside, which led to overcrowding and the stampede.”
