WARREN — Barry Mort, 69, passed away Monday morning, June 2, 2025.
Barry was born Oct. 27, 1955, in Warren, the son of the late Cynthia Diana Saltzmann Mort and was a lifelong area resident. He was a graduate of Badger High School, Class of 1975, and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army in Germany, Australia and Spain.
His hobbies included fishing, hunting, watching Westerns and junk scrapping.
Barry was a collector of many things. He was also an avid sports fan. Barry followed Cleveland Browns football, but he truly enjoyed all sports. Most of all he loved spending time at Walnut Beach with his family.
Barry leaves his wife, the former Cathy Ann Moore, whom he married May 26, 1995; one daughter, Teresa Sanders, and her husband Herb of Cortland; three granddaughters, Kayla (Jeremy) Hughes of Conway, South Carolina, and Katelyn and Kari McCartney of Cortland; and three great grandchildren. Barry also leaves six siblings, Rocke (Marie) Mort of Vernon Township, Linda Lloyd of Hubbard, Sandy Fox (Dave) of Farmdale, Geraldine “Dina” of Warren, Zetta (Ricky) Benson of Hickory, South Carolina, and David Augusta of Cortland; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Staton-Borowski Funeral Home.
Family and friends may call 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in Sager Memorial Cemetery with full military honors.
