It’s been 17 years since Canadian progressive rock band Triumph last hit the stage — but that’s about to change.
The iconic group is set to break their long hiatus with a performance at the Rogers Festival at the Final on Friday, June 6. The show is part of the NHL’s many festivities during the Stanley Cup Finals.
“We're thrilled to bring Triumph to the Rogers Festival At The Final, building on the success of our ad campaign that introduced a whole new generation of music fans to this iconic band,” said Terrie Tweddle, Chief Brand and Communications Officer at Rogers.
The set will take place in Edmonton, where the Oilers will face off against the Florida Panthers.
But fans hoping for a full concert should temper expectations — the band is only expected to play a three-song set, including their 1979 hit “Lay It On the Line,” which peaked at No. 86 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Triumph last performed live in 2008 at Sweden Rock Festival and Rocklahoma. Although they briefly reunited in 2019 to play a few songs at Metalworks Studio in Toronto, that performance was recorded solely for a documentary.
Adding to the excitement, Triumph will also be honored the same day with a new tribute album titled Magic Power: All-Star Tribute to Triumph, released by Round Hill Records.
The album celebrates the band’s five decades of rock history and features covers by artists including Dorothy, Sebastian Bach, Nancy Wilson, Joey Belladonna, Slash and Jeff Keith.
Throughout their career, Triumph released 10 studio albums and four live albums — with their final studio release, Edge of Excess, dropping in 2002.
