SURVIVOR contestants are ‘furious’ with producers for the ‘messy’ season 50 casting process after many fan-favorites were cut at the last second, The U.S. Sun can reveal.
Longtime host Jeff Probst announced the official lineup of past players for the highly anticipated 50th season of Survivor – marking the end of the road for any hopefuls who were vying to be part of the show.
After the official lineup was released, viewers were shocked that certain fan-favorites weren’t chosen – and that other more controversial picks made it through.
According to an insider, the casting process for the 50th season has been “well over a year” from both the producers side and the contestants’ side.
Producers have been thinking about who they were going to cast for Survivor 50 for “years” while past players have been prepping for nearly as long in hopes of getting the coveted call they are heading back to the island.
“Casting has been a bloodbath. There’s a lot of bad blood between the producers and the contestants who got cut last minute.
“These people poured their heart, sweat and tears into basically a year-long casting process that ended up being for nothing.
“Emotions are very high and people are not taking this well. It feels personal after so long,” the insider claimed.
Those who did make the season 50 contestants list were all flown to Los Angeles this week before their big adventure.
Their phones were taken from them as the show is “taking even stricter precautions” to not have any leaks about what happens in the coming weeks.
“The cast and crew officially left to fly off to Fiji yesterday. Season 50 is now filming,” the source confirmed.
