Potter Valley celebrates with Spring Festival & Rodeo

Potter Valley’s annual Spring Festival & Rodeo always draws a crowd, but this year the community’s beloved Memorial Day weekend tradition also benefitted from balmy spring temperatures in the 70s.

Bill Pauli was this year’s grand marshal. The following information about his life and career is from the Potter Valley Rodeo’s Facebook page.

“We are proud to announce our 2025 Potter Valley Spring Festival & Rodeo Grand Marshal Bill Pauli! A fourth generation Mendocino County farmer, Bill was raised and has lived in Potter Valley his entire life.

Bill attended Potter Valley Elementary and graduated from Potter Valley High School. He and his wife, Janet, have five adult children and twelve grandchildren. Three of their sons and their families live here in Potter Valley.

Bill, Janet and all of their five adult children work together in the Pauli Ranch diversified farming operations.

Bill has been involved in various agricultural, community and conservation organizations including the Potter Valley Volunteer Fire Department serving as Fire Chief 6300 for the past 28 years.

Bill is particularly proud of the commitment and dedication of our Potter Valley Volunteer Firefighters! The Fire Department has extensive training programs and, with support from the community, has acquired new fire engines and a water tender along with all the equipment needed to respond to firefighting, medical and rescue emergencies.

When asked to reflect on his years of community involvement in Potter Valley, he described the challenge of establishing the Potter Valley Community High School in the early 1970s after it was closed. He considers this one of our communities’ greatest accomplishments. In those early years Bill served in various capacities at the High School working with many other people to help the school grow and succeed.

Bill also participated in helping reestablish the Potter Valley Spring Festival, Rodeo and Dance…a major undertaking by some very dedicated Potter Valley residents.

The Potter Valley Rodeo would like to thank you Bill for your lifelong dedication to our community.”
