Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab Kings (PBKS) featured in their final league stage match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against the Mumbai Indians (MI) on Monday, May 26.
Punjab Kings (PBKS) won the 69th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against the Mumbai Indians (MI) by 7 wickets at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

Bowling first, Punjab Kings picked up wickets at regular intervals and restricted Mumbai Indians to 184 for 7. Arshdeep Singh, Marco Jansen, and Vijaykumar Vyshak bagged two wickets each, while Harpreet Brar took one wicket.
Chasing the target, Priyansh Arya (62) and Josh Inglis (73) played brilliant innings and took PBKS closer to the win before Shreyas Iyer (26) finished off the match to seal a top-two finish for PBKS.
Speaking during the post-match presentation ceremony, Shreyas Iyer lauded all his players for stepping up against the Mumbai Indians. He also credited the Ricky Ponting-led team management for playing a key role in the Punjab Kings' success. He said:
"I personally feel everyone stepped up at the right time. We have been in that mindset that we have to win no matter what situation. Kudos to everyone and the management. Ricky has been fantastic, and for me it was about gaining the trust of every individual. And that happened by winning matches, and I personally feel we need to maintain that relationship throughout. When you are down in the dumps, it is easy to backstab each other."

While talking about Priyansh Arya, Shreyas Iyer said that the young batter is very pleasing to the eye. He stated:
"(On Priyansh Arya) The way he started was fabulous. It was pleasing to the eye and every individual has been fearless. They tick the boxes in the net sessions and the reflection of it is seen on the ground."
When asked about Josh Inglis' promotion to No.3, Shreyas Iyer said that the Australian batter loves to play new ball, and they sent him to the No.3 spot to give him the opportunity to play longer innings. He elaborated:
"(On Josh Inglis) He loves playing the new ball, and I wanted him to play more deliveries. And I know he can be disruptive, he is a big match player. Hope he continues the same way. We have a camaraderie from the last few years; he lets me be decisive on the field, and all these things have culminated in a great way. Ecstatic that everything is working."
PBKS faced a narrow defeat in the previous IPL clash against MI
Punjab Kings suffered a narrow 9-run defeat against Mumbai Indians in their previous Indian Premier League clash in Mullanpur on April 18, 2024.
PBKS won the toss and chose to bowl first in the match. With the ball, they were poor and allowed Mumbai to post 192/7 despite taking wickets at regular intervals. Harshal Patel was the standout performer, claiming 3 for 31, while Sam Curran chipped in with two wickets and Kagiso Rabada got one wicket.
Chasing the target, they got off to a disastrous start, collapsing to 14/4 inside just 13 balls. Then, Shashank Singh (41) and Ashutosh Sharma (61) showcased a batting masterclass to keep their side in the hunt.
However, the dismissal of Shashank in the 13th over and Ashutosh Sharma in the 18th over, came as a major blow for PBKS, and they were eventually all out for 183 in 19.1 overs.
