An Ohio lawmaker is seeking to introduce legislation that would prevent Ohio State from playing games before 3:30 p.m. ET.
The proposed law comes a few days after FOX announced that it will broadcast Buckeyes’ Week 1 game against Texas to kickoff the 2025 season. Ohio State has become a fixture in FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff window over the past few years, playing a large percentage of its home games in that time slot.
The bill does come with one notable exception. If passed, Ohio State would still be able to take on Michigan in its traditional noon time slot.

— The Rooster (@rooster_ohio) May 15, 2025Fans have long bemoaned having big games in the noon window. A fan even recently launched a petition to ‘stop Big Noon Kickoffs’ following the announcement that FOX will broadcast Texas vs. Ohio State this fall.

— Tex Fischer (@texfischer) May 15, 2025This is already the second time this offseason that an Ohio lawmaker has introduced legislation related to Buckeyes football. Ohio state senator Bill DeMora previously introduced a bill to ban Buckeyes games from exclusively appearing on streaming networks such as Peacock.
Ohio State vs. Texas figures to be a top-5 matchup. While it’s not yet officially a noon kickoff, FOX has traditionally put its marquee matchups in that time slot each week. An official kickoff time is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
