A man has been arrested over three suspected arson attacks at properties and a car linked to Sir Keir Starmer.
The 21-year-old man was held on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life after blazes including a suspected firebomb attack on the Prime Minister’s house in Kentish Town, north London.
He was also detained in connection with a fire on a vehicle on the same road last Thursday, and another fire at a property in Islington in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Scotland Yard’s Counter Terrorism Command are leading the investigation into the fires as a precaution given the fire was at the Prime Minister’s residential home.
Concerned neighbours living near Starmer’s home told The i Paper they were woken by fire engines after a blaze at the house at around 1.30am on Monday.
Local residents said they were aware of a car fire on the same road late on Wednesday night, understood to be the same one police are considering.
Charles Grant, 66, who lives on the same road as Stamer’s property, said police had been searching his garden for a “projectile”. He described hearing a loud bang in the early hours of the morning but went back to sleep.
“From what people have told me today I gather someone threw a firebomb at Keir Starmer’s house,” he said.

“The police said the damage is not extensive – just needs a bit of paintwork,” Mr Grant continued.
“Police searched my garden and said they were looking for something somebody had thrown but they didn’t find anything.”
It is not known yet if anyone was in the property at the time of Monday’s fire.
Forensic officers were seen rifling through bins and scouring bushes along the road throughout Monday afternoon.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “A man has been arrested in connection with a series of arson attacks.
“The 21-year-old was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday, 13 May on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.
“He remains in custody. The arrest relates to three incidents.“
Police were alerted by the London Fire Brigade at 1.35am to reports of a fire at Starmer’s townhouse home.
Damage was caused to the property’s entrance, but nobody was hurt.
Photos showed the door of the home was blackened and scorched from the fire.
All three fires are being treated as suspicious at this time, and enquiries remain ongoing.
