Trader Joes Finally Brought Back a Vibrant Summer-Ready Item That Has Shoppers Drooling

If we had to pick one fruit that’s the physical manifestation of what summer tastes like, it would probably be the humble lemon. They’re bright and citrusy with an acidic punch that livens up boring dishes from pasta and soups to desserts and even ice cream. A quick zest added to a martini can add just the right amount of oomph to tilt your bartending skills into mixology territory, and a squeeze of lemon juice is just enough to take your frisee from blah to dressed to impress.

Whether it’s the vibrant yellow color, fragrant, zesty aroma, or simply for the mouth puckering flavor, lemons are the fruit of the summer, and you can’t convince me otherwise. Sure, tropical options like pineapple and mango are popular, but would you put them in a pesto sauce? Probably not. Lemon, on the other hand, is perfect for pesto, and while we typically add just a hint, Trader Joe’s decided to go all in.

The quirky retailer known to push the bounds of all things culinary just brought back their fan favorite Lemon Pesto Sauce just in time for summer, and @trader_joes_trasure_hunt is sharing all the deets. This vibrant, zippy condiment consists of lemons, grana padano cheese, almonds, salt, and a pinch of black pepper. The resulting concoction is bright and tangy and perfect for folding into a bowl of orecchiette or dressing a salad.

You can blend it into a Caesar dressing or use it to marinate chicken. It would be perfect with fish and could even find its way into a layered dish like moussaka. Best of all, at just $3.49 a jar, you’ve got nothing to lose if it turns out not to be your vibe—although the odds of that are highly unlikely. Fans in the comments were quick to praise the sauce’s return, with one saying, “FINALLY!!!” and another agreeing, “I was so happy to see this back!”

Lucky for us, we don’t have to worry about guava and papaya ending up anywhere other than our fruity blended beverages any time soon, unless, of course, the wizards at Trader Joe’s have something else up their sleeve. On second thought, blood orange pesto doesn’t sound half bad.
