A popular chocolate brand is being pulled from shelves nationwide due to a serious health concern that could affect people with milk allergies.
Lipari Foods, based in Michigan, has issued a recall for its 14-ounce packages of JLM Branded Dark Chocolate Nonpareils after it was discovered that they may contain “undeclared milk,” posing a risk of “serious or life-threatening allergic reactions.” The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) announced the recall on Friday, June 20, urging anyone with a milk allergy to avoid consuming the affected products.
The Nonparelis have already been distributed across the U.S. and are sold in clear plastic tubs marked with one of the following lot numbers: 28202501A, 29202501A, 23202504A, 14202505A, 15202505A, or 03202506A. Although no illnesses have been reported as of now, the FDA is advising customers to return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.

According to the statement, Lipari Foods was notified of the error by Weaver Nut Company, which distributes and manufactures the candy. “It was discovered that the potential milk-containing product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of milk,” Limpari said.
If you have purchased these 14-ounce Dark Chocolate Nonpareils, the FDA advises returning them immediately to ensure your safety. The company can be contacted at (586) 447-3500 ext: 9720 with questions.
