A recent episode of General Hospital has fans asking if the Corinthos clan is about to look very different.
A recent episode of General Hospital found Sonny Corinthos, played by Emmy winner Maurice Benard, about to undergo open heart surgery, and as he went under anesthesia, he flashed back to times he had shared with his children, some of his children anyway.
In true soap opera fashion, Sonny has fathered nine children with seven different women and adopted another. Four never made it to birth, and one died in a car bomb as an adult. Five are still alive in show canon, but fans had long suspected Morgan, played by Emmy winner Bryan Craig, didn't die in that car bomb and will someday return alive and well.
In the flashbacks, Sonny was shown with only three of his living children, which immediately raised questions with fans since his late father's picture was shown, and Morgan has been shown in previous flashbacks since his death. The General Hospital internet community has been abuzz ever since, wondering if three recasts are headed to Port Charles, rather than just the one that was already semi-confirmed.
Earlier this year, Emmy winner Chad Duell, who played Sonny's adopted son Michael Corinthos III, left the show when his contract was up because he needed a break and wanted to explore other options. The show left the door open for him to come back, and with his onscreen wife having an affair with his uncle and his ex-girlfriend currently pregnant with his child, fans knew that Michael would be back sooner rather than later.
GH recasting the role of Michael was accidentally all but confirmed by Robert Adamson, who played Michael as a temporary fill-in on three occasions, in a now-deleted tweet. There is no word yet on who the new Michael will be, but he is certainly coming, and with it being the all-important May sweeps for soaps right now, good money says that he shows up this month.
The other two who were not shown were the previously mentioned Morgan and Sonny's daughter, Avery, whom he shares with Ava Jerome, played by Emmy winner Maura West. Avery has been portrayed by twin sisters, Ava and Grace Scarola, since December 2014. Avery hasn't been seen onscreen for a few months and has only been in two episodes this year. Is General Hospital getting ready to SORAS (Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome) the 10-year-old into a trouble-making teen to stir things up in Port Charles? Their teenage age group could use some shoring up, especially with summer coming.
As far as Morgan goes, he has appeared in flashbacks and even as a vision to both Ava and Sonny at different times, and Bryan Craig portrayed him both times. Craig was also recently seen as Morgan in a picture that the show focused on dramatically at the end of a Friday episode. Many fans took this to mean that Morgan was coming back, but his absence from Sonny's recent flashbacks has spurred the recast rumors.
