Charlotte mother charged with felony child abuse after 8-year-old found naked, injured: Documents ...Middle East

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A Charlotte mother is facing a felony child abuse charge after police said her 8-year-old son was found nude, visibly injured, and alone outside following a violent incident at home, according to Mecklenburg County court records.

Court documents state the child reported that his mother, Porsha Shada Mack, 34, struck him repeatedly across his body with an extension cord on April 29.

Investigators state the boy fled the home without clothing to escape the alleged assault and was left outside alone for more than an hour. During that time, authorities said Mack did not search for the child or contact emergency services.

A witness reportedly discovered the boy, who appeared visibly upset and had raised welts on his arms, legs, back, and abdomen. The witness told police the child asked if he "could come live with them," court documents state.

Mack was arrested on April 30 and charged with felony negligent child abuse resulting in serious physical injury. She was booked into the Mecklenburg County Jail with a bond set at $50,000 secured. According to jail records, she has been released after posting bond.

The case is scheduled to return to court on May 20.
