Bhubaneswar: The Housing & Urban Development Department launched SAHAJOG, a first-of-its-kind initiative to connect urban poor with government schemes.
Inaugurated by Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, Minister of H&UD, the program focuses on schemes like PMAY(U), Ayushman Card, and E-Shram Card, using housing as an entry point.
Following a successful pilot in six ULBs, SAHAJOG will cover 44 ULBs across eight districts, reaching 15 lakh people, with plans for statewide expansion. Community volunteers, SHGs, and ULB workers will drive awareness and application support in a two-month campaign mode.
District-level committees, led by Collectors, ensure coordination, with monthly reviews and weekly grievance redressal, as per an official release.
