Atwater and Val’s (Natalee Linez) relationship has been “casual” up until this point, but the case involving one of her former patients, Nick Payton, drove a wedge between the couple as they didn’t see eye to eye on how to handle the situation.
Fans particularly took issue with the fallout the case had on Atwater’s relationship, considering he’s one of the few on the cast who hasn’t even had a serious romance but actually deserves it.
“Do the fans need to submit scripts for Atwater to have a long lasting relationship on this show?? I am sick & tired of Kevin not having a love interest that lasts,” one person tweeted, as another stated, “These writers are so nasty never allowing Kevin Atwater to have a solid, long-term relationship. SMH. Let my man have love.”
“Damn, Atwater. Kevin can't never seem to just find happiness with the right woman,” someone else quipped, with another echoing, "Atwater can’t catch a break, man."
Another shared a bold declaration, writing that the women “do not deserve Kevin Atwater.”
“Man. Give Atwater a long term love interests without drama,” one comment read, with many chiming in that “they don’t like” his current love interest, even if by the end of the hour, Val and Atwater had an honest heart-to-heart and agreed to give it a real shot.
