The SEC Baseball Tournament entered into a brief-and-unusual delay as Tennessee took on top-seeded Texas on Thursday afternoon.
The game was delayed in the top of the 5th inning after home plate umpire Jason Bradley took a foul ball off his mask. According to the SEC Network broadcast, Bradley went into concussion protocol and the game was stopped as they waited for a replacement behind home plate.

Texas held a 4-0 lead, but Tennessee put 2 runners on base with just 1 out as it was looking to close the gap on the Longhorns in this quarterfinal showdown. The delay seemed as though it could halt some of the momentum the Vols were building prior to the break in action.
On the other side, Texas brought in a new pitcher just before the delay occurred. Grayson Saunier appeared to complete his warmup routine just before Bradley left the playing field.
Play resumed following a delay of approximately 15 minutes after umpire David Savage was able to put on the necessary equipment to move behind the plate. The Vols ended up plating 2 runs in the 5th inning to make it a 4-2 game.
Texas and Tennessee are currently two the favorites to win the 2025 College World Series, according to the latest odds from BetMGM. As of publication, Tennessee is +700 to win it all while Texas is +1000.

The winner of this game will face either Vanderbilt or Oklahoma in the semifinals of the SEC Tournament on Friday.
