Law & Order: Special Victims Unit is getting a shake-up behind the scenes.
The long-running procedural is getting a new showrunner as Michele Fazekas, who previously worked as a showrunner on Prime’s Gen V, will be stepping in, per Deadline.
Since SVU is expected to be renewed soon, Fazekas will replace current showrunner David Graziano, who has led the show for the past three seasons since 2022, for Season 27.

Fans shouldn’t worry, however, as Fazekas is returning to the franchise after almost two decades, having previously worked on SVU as a writer-producer early on in the show’s history—from seasons 4 through 7. Together with writing partner Tara Butters, they wrote and co-wrote 19 episodes before becoming co-executive producers.
Per the outlet, it’s also a historic moment as it’s the first time a female will be a showrunner on the Mariska Hargitay-led show.
Fazeka's extensive show background includes Dollhouse, Hawaii Five-0, Resurrection,, Agent Carter, and Emergence, among many others.
New episodes of Law & Order: SVU Season 26 return on Thursday, April 3, at 9/8c on NBC, with the highly-anticipated crossover with Law & Order airing on Thursday, April 17 at 8/7c.
Fans can also tune into new episodes of Law & Order: Organized Crime on Peacock on April 17 to learn Detective Elliot Stabler's, famously played by Christopher Meloni, fate after a "scary" trailer showed him in a hospital bed.
