User Experience

Getting started with the photo frame was easy. The frame comes with a power adapter and is built into a modest wooden-like frame. When you first take it out of the box, there is a decal on the front of it that outlines the start-up process with the following steps.

One of the things I really like about this photo frame is that you only have to plug it into power. You have the option to attach external storage, but you don’t have to. Once I had it connected to power, I was able to enter my WiFi credentials and let the photo frame do its updates. It ended up taking around 20 minutes or so to finish this completely.

I downloaded the app onto my iPhone and connected it to the frame by scanning the QR Code on shown on the screen. The app gives you the option to select the frame you want to upload to and then you can select photos directly from your Photos library or take new ones with your camera. Depending on how many photos you are trying to upload really depends on how long the upload will last. I haven’t had a huge delay with this, but I haven’t done any large bulk uploads yet.

I’m very impressed with the quality of the display. The text is crisp and the only issue I’ve had is figuring out how to change the location for the weather that shows on the screen. When I got it started up, it shows San Diego but that’s on the opposite side of the country from where I am. In the Settings menu, there is only the option to turn the weather on and off — not a place to change the location or unit of measurement.

I also think it would be a great feature if users could select where on the screen the date/time/weather resides on the screen. By default, this information resides in the upper right-hand corner. I’ve prefer it on the bottom of the screen. I’ve also had some trouble updating my profile image in the iOS app. The app will lock up and won’t accept the new image I try to save there. While the hardware seems to be solid, the software interface could use a bit of work in my opinion. I did reach out to Arzopa’s support via email and the website chat, but at the time of publishing, I have not received a response.
