James Van Der Beek was "super excited" to announce that he's finally headed back to work after his colorectal cancer diagnosis, and fans "can't wait" to see his new project.
His social media followers were quick to send their "congratulations" over what many felt was "perfect casting" as Van Der Beek announced that he was joining the Legally Blonde prequel series Elle, set to play the character of Dean Wilson, the city’s new mayoral candidate and current school district superintendent.
"So, this is exciting… I’m going back to work for a bit," he shared on Instagram, alongside a screenshot of the article from Deadline announcing his latest casting news. "Super excited to join this awesome cast in such a fun project. Almost as excited as my wife and girls are that I’m doing this ? #LegallyBlond #Elle."
