Micah Handlogten made his return to the basketball court on Saturday for the first time since a devastating leg injury last season. The 7-foot-1 center for Florida suffered a broken leg in the SEC Tournament championship vs. Auburn, ending his year and setting his course for a lengthy recovery.
On Friday, Handlogten confirmed he would return to the court this weekend, and he came off the bench in the matchup vs. South Carolina. He will likely be worked back into the minutes rotation over time, but he made his presence felt while on the court.
His first bucket since returning came early in the 2nd half and the Gators in complete control against the Gamecocks. Handlogten delivered an and-1 basket (though missed the free throw) for his first points since last year’s injury.

— Florida Gators Men’s Basketball (@GatorsMBK) February 16, 2025So far, Handlogten has also compiled 5 assists, 3 rebounds and 2 blocks in his return to the court. And it will be interesting to see how he further elevates Florida’s potential for the postseason. Be sure to track all the postseason odds with the Florida betting apps.
The Gators were already up to No. 3 in the country without Handlogten available and are squarely in the mix for a 1-seed in the NCAA Tournament. With Handlogten’s presence in the middle, Florida will be that much tougher throughout the postseason.
