Ron Slay had a great career playing for the Tennessee Volunteers from 1999 to 2003. During his final season in Knoxville in 2003, Slay averaged 21.2 PPG and 7.8 RPG while being named the SEC Player of the Year. Tennessee make the NCAA Tournament multiple times during his career.
On Monday, he was inducted into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame as one of the top athletes to play in the state.

— Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame (@theTSHF) February 3, 2025Slay was surprised with the announcement by his family during his radio show on Monday afternoon. Brad Willis, the Executive Director of the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame said that Slay is an all-time great in the state.
Ron Slay’s passion for the game of basketball and his dedication to excellence made him one of the most exciting players to ever wear the Tennessee orange,” Willis said. “His leadership on and off the court, as well as his contributions to the sport in Tennessee, make him a deserving member of the Hall of Fame. We are thrilled to welcome him to the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2025.
The Hall of Fame ceremony will be on July 19 in downtown Nashville. The Tennessee Titans will be presenting the newest inductees.
