Nick Saban names most dominating player Alabama faced since Joe Burrow

Nick Saban had a wealth of great players while he was the head coach at Alabama, and the legend also faced a wealth of great players in the SEC while winning all those national championships in Tuscaloosa.

On Monday, during the leadup to the latest national championship game matching Ohio State and Notre Dame, Saban let loose with what opposing player was the most dominating against the Crimson Tide since LSU quarterback Joe Burrow. In Saban’s mind, it was another Tigers signal-caller, the guy who has led the Washington Commanders to the NFC title game as a rookie. It’s Jayden Daniels.

Daniels played at LSU in 2022 and 2023 after transferring from Arizona State, and so Saban had to deal with Daniels’ arm and legs during his final 2 seasons as head coach at Alabama.

“Since Joe Burrow, this was the most dominating player that we played against at Alabama. No disrespect to anybody else, but I think this guy is a great passer, he’s fast as hell, he’s smart, he makes good decisions. I don’t see how you can go wrong with this guy,” Saban said Monday on The Pat McAfee Show.

Daniels and the Commanders will face the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, and if Daniels can keep turning the NFL on its ear, then he has a chance to be in the Super Bowl as a rookie quarterback.
