A FORMER MLB first-round pick has made a shock move into the brand new world of college FOOTBALL.
Bubba Thompson, 26, was once a top name in baseball and was the 26th pick in the first round of the 2017 MLB draft.
Thompson ended up starring for both the Texas Rangers and the Cincinnati Reds.
But he found himself without a team in November after electing free agency.
And now, Thompson has reinvented himself in a whole other sport.
The ace first decided to ditch baseball for football.
That’s before Thompson penned a deal with the South Alabama Jaguars, a college team in the Football Bowl Subdivision.
He now plays quarter-back for his new team.
And Thompson will be hoping to start the upcoming season as an important member of the side.
Fans were certainly left shocked by his surprise sporting switch.
One said: “Is this allowed?”
Another declared: “This is so random.”
One noted: “I remember the days a 21-year-old college player was old.”
Another added: “Is he going to be a freshman??”
