Jennifer Love Hewitt is returning to one of her most iconic roles in the upcoming I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel. At the same time, she's taking a look back at how fans' perspective of her has shifted as she's aged.
The actress, 45, sat down for an interview recently in which she talked about fans having trouble accepting her changing looks, recalling a quote from Taylor Swift about fame.
"I feel like fans pick this you at this age that they love, that they think represents you, and you're never supposed to grow beyond that," she told Fox News Digital.

She noted that these are the moments that are "hard for me," before saying, "For me, it was like me in my 20s, like people seem to have a really hard time accepting that I don't look that way anymore."
"That part of it is hard, because...you just want to have the freedom to be whoever you are at that age," Hewitt went on.
The 9-1-1 actress specifically addressed the criticism she sees on social media from fans, declaring, "It's hurtful sometimes when people reject you as you are, verbally on Instagram or the internet, because they're having a hard time adjusting to it."

She then mentioned her children, explaining that the main struggle she has when it comes to criticism of her aging is trying to make sure that her kids don't see mean comments and think that way or "worry about me being hurt by it."
But Hewitt clarified that she is personally comfortable with her age and her physical appearance, saying that aging isn't "personally hard...I just love being in my 40s. I really do."
"I think women really come into this acceptance of themselves and this like comfortability in their 40s that is beautiful," she proclaimed.
While she had some huge hits in the 1990s, Hewitt is still flourishing, and the star is set to have a great 2025 with more 9-1-1, the I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel and other projects on the horizon.
