Newsreader Rageh Omaar at ITV falling ill on-air

On a recent broadcast, ITV newsreader Rageh Omaar fell ill on-air, causing concern among viewers and colleagues alike. Omaar, known for his calm and composed demeanor, suddenly began to stumble over his words and appeared visibly unwell. The incident was a stark reminder of the pressures faced by those in the public eye, as Omaar struggled to maintain his professionalism while battling illness.

The incident also highlighted the importance of self-care and taking care of one's health, even in high-pressure environments. Omaar's dedication to his job is commendable, but it serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of pushing oneself too hard.

Omaar, 56, was presenting News At Ten on Friday when he appeared to be struggling to read the news bulletins, stumbling over words, prompting concern online.

ITV pulled the show from its scheduled re-run on ITV+1, telling viewers that the channel was "temporarily unable to bring you our +1 service".

Omaar is responsible for covering major news stories across the world as the International Affairs Editor, while also presenting ITV’s current affairs programme On Assignment.

During his career, he has also been a senior foreign correspondent for the BBC, rising to prominence during the invasion of Iraq in 2003.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, viewers of the programme were quick to express concern for Omaar. One person wrote on social media: "Rageh Omaar genuinely appeared to be having a stroke reading ITV News at Ten tonight. Really struggling to string a sentence together and get his words out. Amazed he made it to the end of the bulletin. Hope he's OK."

Another added: "Disturbing to see Rageh Omaar struggling with what looks like a medical issue - it’s terrifying when you’re at work but know something is terribly wrong (I’ve been there) but you think ‘I need to carry on’ - hope he’s ok."

Rageh Omaar joined ITV News as a special correspondent and presenter in January 2013, reporting on a broad range of news stories, as well as producing special in-depth reports from all around the UK and abroad.

Before being promoted to International Affairs Editor for ITV News in 2014.

Just this month the father-of-three found himself in hot water with some football fans over comments he made about the Premier League title race.

A self-professed Arsenal fan, Mr Omaar hilariously said: 'To sport now and the tussle for the Premier League title is still as close as anything after Liverpool returned to the top of the table.

'They beat bottom club Sheffield United 3-1. Alexis Mac Allister got the goal that turned the game, so Liverpool are, regrettably, two points clear of Arsenal.'
