EU heads of mission lauds decision to hold Shura Council polls

The European Union (EU) heads of mission in Qatar have lauded the announcement by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to hold the first Shura Council elections in October 2021. The embassy of Germany, which holds the EU presidency, issued a statement yesterday together with other diplomatic missions of EU member states in Qatar. “The EU heads of mission in Qatar welcome the announcement by His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, of a concrete timeframe to hold the first Shura Council elections in October 2021,” the statement said. “This important step will increase political participation by Qatari citizens to the benefit of the people of
