Manchester United suffered back-to-back Champions League defeats as they were beaten 3-2 by Galatasaray at Old Trafford.
Rasmus Hojlund was once again the shining light for Erik ten Hag's side as he seized the opportunity to make his mark when he connected with Marcus Rashford's cross to open the scoring. Those celebrations were, however, short-lived as Wilfried Zaha equalised for Galatasaray just five minutes later with an acrobatic finish over United's goalkeeper, Andre Onana.
Hannibal Mejbri. Early in the second half, Hojlund's quest for a second goal was thwarted when the linesman raised his flag for offside, denying the Denmark international.
Rasmus Hojlund had twice given United the lead but the Turkish team pegged them back each time before Andre Onana's error led to Casemiro being red carded in his attempt to salvage the situation. Mauro Icardi missed the penalty but made amends with the winner.
Galatasaray and looking to kick-start their European campaign having been beaten 4-3 by Bayern Munich in their opener.
At the same time, Galatasaray fought back from two goals down against Copenhagen to pick up a point, leaving Man United bottom in Group A after the first round of fixtures.
A long ball was allowed to bounce not once but twice for the first, going all the way into the United area before Zaha shoved Dalot aside to score. The concession of the penalty came from another bad mistake from Onana, while the winner from Icardi came from another uncontested long ball straight through the heart of the defence. It was a defeat that might have been a lot heavier than 3-2.
The only green shoot of promise for Erik ten Hag was a dynamic turn from Rasmus Hojlund. His two goals were superbly taken, but he’ll have to keep scoring heavily to keep United in games if they continue to play so badly at the other end.
