On the card, Jonathan Gabriel Pachado fought Jeremy Adorno and was brutally knocked out in the first round.
And after the fight, Pachado made a remarkable set of claims, including that the promotion refused to pay for his flight.
He tweeted: “Friday I fought for @MostVpromotions and they refused to pay me the full purse.
“They said that the commission was the one that was gonna pay my purse when we all know that’s the promoter job.
“They never gave me the plane ticket to get back. Should I keep going with all they’ve done?”
CEO of Most Valuable Promotions Mike Leanardi responded to the claims, providing context regarding his missed weight.
He responded: “Jonathan, you missed weight by 13lbs. 13lbs for a 126lbs contracted fight.
“You showed no professionalism, but your opponent agreed to still fight you.
“And you agreed to give up some of your purse to him as a result. Please stop with the fake narrative.”
Paul’s promotion has already overseen some huge fightsSarah Stier / NetflixIt is clear that Pachado is unlikely to receive any sympathy with his claims, given his performance on fight night.
Boxers are often required to forfeit a portion of their purse if they do indeed miss contracted weight.
Nonetheless, Paul’s promotion has been a huge success so far and he is all in on boxing, particularly in the female divisions.
He will stage and promote the huge trilogy bout between Serrano and Katie Taylor on July 11 in New York.
Paul has financially backed Serrano and it has seen her earn record paydays for women’s boxing.
He has since boosted his stable by signing former world champions Savannah Marshall and Chantelle Cameron.
And Paul was delighted to add further acquisitions to his growing roster.
He said: “Savannah Marshall and Chantelle Cameron are world-class athletes who represent the best of women’s boxing and the proud tradition of UK champions.
“Now, alongside Ellie Scotney, MVP represents the most dominant roster of UK women’s athletes in boxing.
“Like Amanda Serrano and Alycia Baumgardner, Savannah and Chantelle have reached the pinnacle of the sport by becoming undisputed champions—giving them the experience, perspective, and platform to lead the next generation.
“We look forward to announcing their MVP debuts in the coming weeks.”
