Twenty-four University of Northern Colorado track and field athletes will compete at the Big Sky Conference Outdoor Championships this week in Sacramento, California.
Sacramento State will host the meet Wednesday-Saturday at Hornet Stadium. All four days will be streamed on ESPN+. The Northern Arizona women’s team has won four consecutive titles. Montana State is the defending men’s champion.
Three UNC men’s athletes will compete in four events: Zander Cruzan (200 and 400 meters, 4×100 and 4×400-meter relays); and Johnny Fisher and Edgar Garcia (100, 200 and 4×100 and 4×400 relays).
Sprinter and hurdler Jerome Campbell, who finished second in a hurdles event at the NCAA indoor meet in March, will run the 100 meters, the 110-meter high hurdles and on the 4×100 relay. Sprinters Donovan Castillo (200, 400 and 4×400 relay) and Floyd Samuels Jr. (100, 4×100 and 4×400 relays) will run three events.
On the women’s side: sprinter and jumper Kiana Van Haaren, who earlier this month broke a UNC long jump record, will compete in the long jump, 100 meters and the 4×100 relay.
