Ringo Starr may be turning 85 next week, but the Beatles legend is footloose and fancy free.
In a new interview with the New York Times, the legendary musician reflected on how he feels better than ever at 84 years old.
“It blows me away,” Starr told the Times. “I look in the mirror and I’m 24. I never got older than 24.”

Like former bandmate Paul McCartney, Starr is showing no interest in retirement. The Liverpool native calls Los Angeles home these days, but he adopted Nashville as his own while recording his country album there. Titled Look Up, it was released in January. But wherever he is, it's safe to say that Starr is thrilled to continue his journey as a musician.
“I live in the now,” he continued. “I didn’t plan any of it. I love that life I’m allowed to live.”
Over the weekend, Starr took to Instagram to share a video of gratitude from his most recent tour. The music icon noted how thrilled he was with the conclusion of the tour, and made it clear how eager he was to get back out there on stage again soon.
"I want thank all the fans for coming to see Ringo and the All Starrs - We’ve had a great time on this tour," Starr wrote. "See you in September! Peace and love ?✌️?❤️?????☮️ R."
