The San Mateo County and Alameda County fairs are behind us but lovers of ferris wheels and food on a stick have plenty to look forward to.

Stanislaus County Fair: July 11-20, Stanislaus County Fairgrounds, 900 N. Broadway, Turlock. Enjoy carnival rides, animals, live entertainment, local exhibits and beloved events including the tractor pulls, motocross and destruction derby events. California State Fair: July 11-27, Cal Expo, 1600 Exposition Blvd., Sacramento. Join this showcase of California’s industries, agriculture and diversity. Amador County Fair: July 31-Aug. 3, Amador County Fairgrounds, 18621 Sherwood St., Plymouth. Returning this year with an all-new theme, “The Happiest Place on Dirt,” this annual fair celebrates California’s living history and also offers food, entertainment and carnival rides. The Miss Amador and the Amador Rodeo Queen competitions are among the highlights. Santa Clara County Fair: July 30 – Aug. 3, Santa Clara County Fairgrounds, 344 Tully Road, San Jose.
