Kevin Durant was left practically speechless as he seemingly discovered he had been traded by the Phoenix Suns while he was live on stage.
A deal has been struck on the final day of the NBA season that will see the two-time NBA champion join the Houston Rockets – and it appears he found out while he was in front of a room full of fans at Fanatics Fest.
The blockbuster deal will see Durant traded to Houston, with Phoenix picking up Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No.10 pick in the 2025 draft and five second-round picks in return.
According to ESPN, negotiations began over the weekend and an agreement was struck on Sunday morning.
News filtered out while Durant was on stage at a Fanatics Fest event in New York City, where he appeared alongside Paris Saint-Germain owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi for a ‘Global Game Changers’ panel.
Earlier this week it was announced Durant had become a minority shareholder in the French soccer giants by purchasing a direct stake in the team
But while the 36-year-old is already making plans for his future after retirement, he hasn’t called it quits yet and is set to hook up with the fifth team of his career as he looks to win a third NBA championship.
While on stage, his interview was drowned out by fans reacting to news on their phones that the NBA superstar in front of them was switching teams.
KD’s reaction was priceless, as he just stared out into the auditorium with a surprised smile on his face.
In response, he could only say: “We’re gonna see, man. We’re gonna see.”
Durant was always likely to be on the move having entered the final year of his contract in Arizona.
Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves and San Antonio Spurs all emerged as top contenders for the two-time NBA Finals MVP.

Durant will leave Phoenix for Houston as he aims to win his third NBA championshipGettyToronto Raptors, Cleveland Cavaliers, LA Clippers and Denver Nuggets were also mentioned as wild-card suitors for his signature.
It was reported that Durant’s preference would be to join Victor Wembanyama in Texas with the Spurs.
The call was half-right – he’s heading to Texas… but will wear a Rockets jersey next season.
Durant is entering the final year of his contract and will be owed $54.7 million for the 2025-26 season.
The Golden State Warriors almost made a play for KD before the trade deadline, but the 15-time All-Star opted against a return to the Bay Area – where he won both his championship rings.
He would have been eligible to sign an extension worth up to $122 million on July 6 having averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game for the struggling Suns this campaign.
Durant won both his NBA championship rings with Golden State, but turned down the chance to return to the WarriorsGettyBut it seems his move to Houston will be completely on that date instead when the new league year begins.
The trade will see Durant reunited with his former Brooklyn Nets and Team USA coach Ime Udoka, who led the Rockets to 52 wins this season.
Udoka recently agreed to a new long-term contract extension with the franchise to make him one of the highest-paid coaches in the NBA.
The Suns, meanwhile, have sought to make changes after finishing 11th in the Western Conference with the highest payroll in NBA history.
They went 36-46 this season despite Durant, who turns 37 in September, still boasting prolific shooting stats.
And they have decided to trade their superstar in the hope of rebuilding under new general manager Brian Gregory and Cleveland Cavaliers assistant Jordan Ott as their new head coach.
