WNBA MVP apologizes as Caitlin Clark makes history in star-studded tilt

The Las Vegas Aces and Indiana Fever met in a gigantic clash between two of the best teams in the league.

It was A’ja Wilson and the Aces taking down Caitlin Clark and the Fever 89-81.

The Aces and Fever now both stand at 6-7 on the season.

And while the overall records may not look great, the talent on each roster is still there, dripping in stardom.

Wilson and Clark are the two biggest stars in the WNBA.

After the win, Wilson jokingly apologized for her performance not being up to her standard.

“I want to apologize to everybody. That was not a normal A’ja Wilson tonight,” Wilson said.

The three-time regular season MVP and two-time champion finished the game with 24 points and seven rebounds.

A great game for just about anyone else but Wilson.

    Her standards are beyond that.

And while the Fever may have lost, Clark set a few more records.

She finished the game with 19 points and ten assists.

With those ten assists, Clark became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 400 career assists.

She also passed Chelsea Gray for eighth most double-doubles by a guard in WNBA history.

A reminder, that Clark has been in the league for less than two whole seasons.

It seems as though every time she takes the court, another record falls.

The Fever, and Aces, have work to do if they want to put themselves back into the title conversation.

The Aces won back-to-back titles with Wilson leading the charge in 2022 and 2023, but lost in the Finals last season to the New York Liberty.

Meanwhile, the Fever haven’t won a championship since 2012.

Clark will be hoping to change that sooner rather than later.
