The season 3 premiere of Ginny & Georgia picked up immediately after Georgia was arrested for murder at her own wedding — and the situation only escalated from there.
Georgia (Brianne Howey) found herself in holding for two days before her arraignment. While fighting out her next steps, she was visited by new husband Paul (Scott Porter), who was determined to get her out despite wondering if she was actually guilty. There was also a visit from her son, Austin’s (Diesel La Torraca) dad, Gil (Aaron Ashmore), who mocked Georgia with the idea that she could be locked up for life.
Before her arraignment, Georgia reunited with Ginny (Antonia Gentry) and Austin who were desperate to have their mother back at home with them. Luckily, Georgia was able to charm the judge into releasing her on bail — but she was under house arrest.
Georgia’s warm welcome home didn’t last long as Ginny confronted her with the news that Austin saw her kill Cynthia’s (Sabrina Grdevich) husband, Tom (Vincent Legualt), by smothering him with a pillow. Georgia broke down about not being able to protect her family and Ginny comforted her as they wondered what came next.
Everything to Know About 'Ginny and Georgia' Season 3 After Arrest Twist
Elsewhere in the episode, Ginny was worried she would relapse and self-harm after stealing a lighter from Abby (Katie Douglas). Marcus (Felix Mallard), meanwhile, tried to balance worrying about Ginny and prioritizing his own mental health as he continued to battle depression. There was also Max (Sara Waisglass) who took a step forward in her personal life but also questioned her friendship with Ginny.
The flashbacks throughout the premiere showed a younger Georgia visiting Gil in prison to tell him she was leaving. She took Ginny and Austin on a road trip to see a young Zion and had to find creative ways (a.k.a theft) to acquire money and food for her family.
Amanda Matlovich/NetflixGinny & Georgia‘s return comes more than two years after season 2 premiered on Netflix. Amid the lengthy hiatus, Howey, 35, teased how the fallout of Georgia’s arrest would set the scene for the entire season.
“We see entirely new sides of Ginny and Georgia,” Howey exclusively told Us Weekly in January. “I feel like [it’s] surprising ’cause we’ve already seen so many sides of them, but lo and behold, there’s more.”
One month later, Howey expanded on what is to come, telling Us, “All of the characters are now, as we see, on their own mental health journey, and it’s a really important part of the show. Georgia, for the first time in her life, is realizing the catastrophic consequences of her actions that they have on her children.”

Howey was excited for Georgia to develop even more. “As season 2 starts, Georgia has been so exposed — all of their private family secrets are now out in the open — and you can only imagine the domino effect of what this does to everyone in Georgia’s life, including Georgia,” she added.
The one constant would be Georgia and Ginny’s connection.
“I think what we love so much about Ginny and Georgia is their love for each other. What Georgia is out there showing is that there’s no wrong way to love your child — it might look different on everybody, but there’s no wrong way to love your child,” Howey continued. “Georgia, even with her limited toolbox — and she, of course, doesn’t get it all right — but she is trying so hard. I think that’s what really matters.”
Ginny & Georgia is streaming on Netflix.
