Brian Windhorst has once again found himself on the receiving end of LeBron James’ ire.
The Los Angeles Lakers star has fired back at Brian Windhorst, after the ESPN reporter’s take that James and Nash’s podcast, Mind the Game, wouldn’t be very successful if it was just all about X’s and O’s.
James reposted a video from his podcast’s X account, saying, “Long ways from being done!! Sucks they have to listen to 2 guys who know nothing about basketball talk about basketball! Sorry @SteveNash”
The video was of Windhorst talking about how no one wants to listen to a show or podcast if it’s just about X’s and O’s and strategy.
“I think there are times that the media is out of balance and I encourage NBA players to hold the media accountable when they can as long as they’re okay being held accountable by the media,” Windhorst said on ESPN.
“I think at times our big challenge is to find that balance.
“Let’s not have 125 threes a game, but let’s not ban the three-pointer. Let’s have a balance.
“When people talk about the game of basketball, they want to talk about the drama, they want to talk about the X’s and O’s but I’m telling you if you do a full show that’s all X’s and O’s, that’s not going to be any good either.”
Windhorst wasn’t done there.
“People like the drama,” Windhorst continued.
“People like the rivalries and people like looking at why Luka Doncic has trouble defending Tyrese Haliburton in an iso situation.
James has taken more shots back at the media in recent memory than he ever has beforeGetty Windhorst is a trusted and respected NBA reporter and insiderGetty“I think there’s room for all of it. And there’s room to hold each other accountable but the finger-pointing, I don’t think that benefits anyone.”
In Windhorst’s defense, he emphasized the need for balance, so James and his social team just taking the negative comments and putting them together in a video is a bit disingenuous.
And for anyone who has listened to James and Nash on their podcast, it is much more than just X’s and O’s.
The irony.
They had James’ teammate, Luka Doncic, on their most recent episode, where they discussed so many things on and off the court.
James’ shot at Windhorst comes on the heels of the NBA superstar taking a dig at the reporter just a couple of months ago on The Pat McAfee Show.
“I’ve seen Brian Windhorst on one of these shows not too long ago … This guy says he’s like my (expletive) best friend. These guys are just weird,” James said.

Windhorst took the high road in his response to James’ initial comment.
“LeBron doesn’t owe me anything, I owe him a lot,” Windhorst said on ESPN.
“He has been a great friend to my hometown and my alma mater, that I would stand on. Anything else I would never say or never stand on.
“I met LeBron 25 years ago. My understanding of LeBron and where people stand in his life has been crystal clear for a long time.”
James and Windhorst seemed to once have a good relationship, but after the last few months, it doesn’t seem to be the case anymore.
