The 20th annual “Celebrating Words: Art and Literacy Festival” — billing itself as the longest-running book fair in the San Fernando Valley — spread the message about the power of words over the weekend.

The festival gave away more than 1,000 books at the the Global Green Generation campus in Pacoima.

Organizers branded the family-friendly event as “a dynamic, accessible space that fosters creativity and supports growth and healing through arts and literacy.”

The event also featured art giveaways, community conversations, food vendors, live music and a 25-foot rock climbing wall.
