Beloved Psych Alum Headed to Blue Bloods Spinoff Boston Blue

A beloved Psych star is putting on a cop's badge once again.

Deadline reported on Monday, June 2, that Psych alum Maggie Lawson is putting on her cop badge once more for the Blue Bloods spinoff Boston Blue starring Donnie Wahlberg.

Lawson will play Sarah Silver, the "strong willed and decisive Superintendent in the Boston Police Department who is Lena’s stepsister." Sarah is "well aware of the tightrope she can walk sometimes between her job and her family."

The aforementioned Lena (Sonequa Martin-Green) is a detective for the Boston Police Department with whom Danny Reagan (Wahlberg) is partnered when he takes a position with the Boston PD. The blended Silver family is a law enforcement family just like the Reagans in Blue Bloods. Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters) has been cast as the Silver family patriarch, Reverend Peters. His daughter Mae Silver (not yet cast) is Boston's District Attorney, and his granddaughter is Det. Lena Silver. Sarah Silver is his step-granddaughter and his grandson Officer Isaac Silver (not yet cast) is a rookie patrol cop.

Lawson's best-known role was that of Det. Juliet O'Hara for eight seasons plus several follow-up movies of the USA show Psych alongside James Roday Rodriguez, Dule Hill, Timothy Omundson, Corbin Bernsen and Kirsten Nelson.

As to whether any other Blue Bloods alums will show up on Boston Blue, Wahlberg previously teased that they are but a phone call away.

"It will be a Danny Reagan-based show, but the Reagans are only a phone call away, and Danny Reagan likes to use the phone, that's all I'll say," teased Wahlberg on the podcast Morning Magic with Sue and Kendra.

He added, "I can't tell a lot of stuff about it other than at this point, I'm very humbled to be producing the show with Jerry Bruckheimer and some incredible writers and producers known as the Brandons. It's an honor to keep the Blue Bloods tradition alive, and I think that's what I'll be doing with the show."

"The Brandons" that Wahlberg is referring to are Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier, writers/producers who have worked together on many shows, including Alert: Missing Persons Unit, S.W.A.T., L.A.'s Finest and The Blacklist.

Boston Blue will premiere in the fall of 2025 in the 10 p.m. Friday night slot on CBS.
