Several Saturday Night Live legends reunited with boss Lorne Michaels to accept a prestigious award at the Peabody Awards on June 1.
Iconic former cast members Amy Poehler, Molly Shannon, and Fred Armisen went on stage with Michaels, 80, to accept the Lifetime Award honoring the incredible SNL legacy at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel during the Peabody Awards ceremony. Frequent SNL guest and host Jon Hamm also joined the group both on stage to accept the honor as well as on the carpet, where the collaborators came together to pose for photos with the award. SNL writer and producer Erik Kenward also joined for pictures.

Recently, Shannon, 60, opened up to Parade exclusively about her time working on the iconic sketch series, which she starred on from 1995 to 2001.
“It was just so exciting. I really miss the live performance,” she gushed. “Whenever you go back, it's kind of like being an athlete. Your body can just remember it really quickly. It is almost like a body memory, and there's nothing like it. It's the most exhilarating of all types of performance. There's nothing that compares to it. It makes your heart pound, it's exciting, it's nerve-wracking. It's everything. But I really just feel so lucky that I got cast on that show.”

The beloved comic, who is perhaps best known for her character Mary Katherine Gallagher on SNL, also revealed that a chance encounter helped her in her initial interview with Michaels, who has been vetting and hiring all of the comedians on the show since it began in 1975.
“I met a businessman on the plane, and I go, ‘Do you have any advice for my big meeting with Lorne?’” Shannon said. “And he was like, ‘Ask him opinion questions.’ So I did. And he goes, ‘To get him to talk — don't just ask a question where he could give a one-word answer, ask his opinion.’ And it was such good advice because now knowing Lorne, Lorne loves giving his opinion, and he's so smart.”

Funnily enough, Shannon actually pictured her interview with Michaels being a success years prior. “Way before I ever met him, I was like, ‘Oh, I hope someday I can meet Lorne Michaels,’” she explained. “And I actually had a dream that I met him, and in the dream it went really well.”
