Paris Saint-Germain stormed their way to the Champions League title with arguably the most complete team across the whole of Europe.
Players including Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue deserve the huge plaudits they’re getting, but club chief Luis Campos is most certainly worthy of equal praise.
Campos has worked as the football advisor at PSG since 2022.
He works on the ‘performance, recruitment, and organisational side’ of the men’s team in the French capital.
The appointment was made after Campos had a managerial career in his native Portugal, which followed a short spell as a right-back.
Campos even got the better of Jose Mourinho whilst at Gil Vicente by ending his 27-match unbeaten league run with Porto in 2004.
Monaco hired him as their sporting director nine years later and saw an influx of quality throughout his three years at the club.
Radamel Falcao, James Rodriguez and Ricardo Carvalho are just three of the talents that signed for Les Monegasques.
He also aided the rise of Kylian Mbappe from the academy to the first team at Monaco as they enjoyed the benefits of having one of football’s greatest ever prodigies.
Campos left the club in good hands in the summer of 2016 as they won the subsequent Ligue 1 title ahead of reigning champions PSG.
After a year away from football, he returned to the French top flight with Lille and made more shrewd decisions as sporting director.
For example Nicolas Pepe, who signed for around £8.4million, was sold to Arsenal in 2019 for a whopping fee of £72m.

Campos left Lille in December 2020 and, yet again, departed a squad that would win the Ligue 1 title ahead of PSG just months later.
After losing two league titles to clubs where the transfer chief was mastering his craft, PSG seemingly decided enough was enough.
They appointed him in the football advisor role ahead of the 2022/23 season and spent around £124m during his first window.
Vitinha and Nuno Mendes were two of the arrivals, and both of them lifted the Champions League trophy in Munich on Saturday night.
PSG, owned by Qatar Sports Investments since 2011, flexed their huge financial strength in Campos’ second season by spending £384m.

But the 2024/25 season was arguably their best of the Campos reign so far as Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Doue and Joao Neves all signed.
Although the trio made up more than half of the total £202m spent, the expenditure was repaid with three trophies.
Champions League glory followed a fourth consecutive Ligue 1 title and wins in both the Coupe de France and Trophee des Champions.
It’s no surprise that Campos is regarded as one of, if not the best, in his field, even before PSG’s latest haul of silverware.
Premier League giants Manchester United became linked with him earlier this year after the short tenure of Dan Ashworth.
However, Campos ended speculation of an Old Trafford switch in May by signing a new deal at PSG that runs until 2030.
It’s a move that could spell further domestic and European success for the club and put other top sides on red alert this summer.
PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi spoke to talkSPORT on Monday and said that Campos is the ‘best in the world’.
Given his success rate, it’d be difficult to argue against that tag.
